Welcome to Fall

  • by Ashley Hoppichler

Well, Fall came quickly to the Okanagan this year! Between heat waves and forest fires this summer, the cool mornings and evenings have brought a renewed energy.  Which means new products and old favs!!!  Wolf has had so many requests for cutting boards and has (finally!) delivered and they are beautiful.  I can't wait for you to see them!  They are wine barrel staves end grain with black walnut end grain.  Christmas is coming, just saying!  Pre-orders will start next week and we'll have pictures and sizes as well.  And as mentioned, Christmas is coming.  Wolf is stocking up on all your fav's for the up coming holiday season.

End Grain Cutting Board

The summer market season was great (minus the smoke) at Polson Park and we loved connecting once again with all of you in Vernon.  The next Market date will be Sunday, October 24th (10am - 4pm) at Ghostly Garlic in Lake Country (11524 Cemetery Road).  We will keep you posted for the upcoming Christmas markets as well in early November.

Since it is Fall and everything is still Pumpkin Spice and all things nice, we wanted to share some love from our kitchen.  This little gem of a recipe is quick to whip up and oh-so-delicious!  You can even make it fancy by adding a cream cheese filling and some walnut streusel.

Best Ever Pumpkin Muffins

1 ¾ cup flour
1 cup sugar
½ brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp cloves
¼ tsp nutmeg
2 eggs
1-15oz can pumpkin puree
½ cup olive oil (or coconut oil)
1 tsp vanilla
  1. Preheat oven to 375. Line or grease muffin tin.
  2. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and spices. Whisk and set aside.
  3. Combine eggs, pumpkin, oil and vanilla and mix until just combined.
  4. Add the pumpkin mixture to the dry ingredients.
  5. Bake for 20 – 22 mins.
  6. Enjoy!!!

If you feel inclined, here is the Cream Cheese filling and the Walnut Streusel recipes I use as well.  These go from basic to DYNAMITE!

Cream Cheese Filling

½ cup cream cheese softened
¼ cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Mix all ingredients together and pipe into the center of each muffin before baking.

Walnut Streusel

¼ cup sugar
½ cup flour
¼ cup chopped walnuts
3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Mix all ingredients until combined.  Top muffins with 1 tbsp before baking.

Until next time!

Cheers,

Ashley and Wolfgang
